Dust, Sunlight, Self Portraits

Happy Thursday, all! :)

It was wonderfully easy for me to do what I planned yesterday, and that was lovely.

After a rather chaotic day at work (a Christian daycare), I came home, got into some comfy clothes, made myself a chocolate chip pancake (it was happily taking me back to the day), and got to work, or rather, play. Reorganizing things is something I like to do. What about y'all?

Despite the fact that it was 30 degrees outside, the sun was pouring through my big bedroom window and it gave a happy light to everything as my iPod played through Switchfoot, Imagine Dragons, The Avett Brothers, Jars of Clay, etc...

There was just something really fun, relaxing, and neat about touching and moving all the things on my shelf. There were so many items that had belonged to my parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. Items that were given to me by friends and family, and those I just bought myself.
Whatever it was, everything there had a story.
It brought back a flood of memories. Funny ones, embarrassing ones, happy ones, sad ones.
It also reminded me of the never ending faithfulness of my heavenly Father.
He is so good to me and I am so undeserving of His love and compassion.

But He loves me with an everlasting, unchangeable, huge, crazy love, and I have nothing but to love Him with all my heart.
May He grow in me more the love He has given me.

A good friend of mine made this for my last birthday. She's an amazing painter.. Cool, isn't it?

Peacock feathers. Gotta love 'em!

Mr. Owl. A wonderful friend of mine made this for me for a birthday. I love owls!
Mr. Owl with glasses. B> Once I put those on him, I kind of cracked up laughing for some reason? It was fun...

This is a German to English dictionary my amazing little brother bought for me at a used book sale.

My dusty mandolin that needs a new string.

This suitcase belonged to my great-grandfather. Vintage! :D

No, I don't knit. I keep forgetting how. :/

Letters. One of my favorite things to receive. I have some pretty rad pen pals too.

These belonged to my great-grandmother. :)

Shot this one of Gracey while posting. :)

...So, I leave you with a happy heart rejoicing in the Lord. :D
I'm super excited because the weekend is coming and I look forward to a happy evening tomorrow watching The Sound of Music with some of the best ladies in the world. *yay*

And now, I must go beat my brothers at four square.maybe. ;)

What do you have planned for your weekend?

Thanks for visiting!

  1. Emma, what a delightful trip down memory lane with you. You have some special treasures! Your shirt looks terrific, BTW :)
Are you aware that the white bed you have belonged to my Aunt Mary, Mama L's older sister? (Your dad used it growing up.) She would be your great-great aunt, born in 1906!
I'm enjoying your blog and pics. Love, Mimi
