Ode to Fall 2013

Hi all! Happy October! :D

The weather here is finally starting to get chilly and I'm getting super excited.
Fact about me: fall and winter are my favorite seasons. I'm generally not a warm weather person and I'm always in the mood for a cold breeze... What do you enjoy doing during the fall season??

Lately my life has felt very hectic and it's been hard for me to be able to relax my mind and just enjoy the moment without worrying about work, school, the killer piano piece I'm working on for a recital in November, and a number of other things. But God reminded me that I am His and He is mine. He has washed me in His blood and I'm free to live this life before Him as a child saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus.

So, I've been thinking a lot about my photography and how I'd love to go farther with it and make a business (later in the future that is. I'm still trying to get through my last year of high school. ha) out of it. And even though I've been able to make some money and great experience the last couple of months, my photography began to feel more like a burden than a pleasure. I was getting more worried about what I was going to do in order to make a name for myself and earn money and so on that I forgot to just enjoy the moment of my shooting.

I visited kinfolk.com the other day (really y'all, these people are amazing. this is my dream job) and they helped to remind me why I was behind the lens. It was for the sheer joy of it. For capturing something fascinating, spectacular, simple, special, beautiful. I realized that I love to photograph lifestyle. I realized that I love watching the object come into focus as I set up the shot. I realized that photography, although it can be stressful, aggravating, and tiring, is relaxing and a way for me to get away from what I do every day and enjoy God's creation and the little details of life.

And that's exactly what I did. I grabbed my camera and went outside to do what I enjoy. And even though my photos didn't look exactly like my hero photographers, even though I don't have my new camera and I still have to work around the issues my current has, I enjoyed myself.

So thanks, God, for giving me an enjoyment in photography and You awesome creation to capture. Thanks, Kinfolk for always inspiring me with your photos and people.
And thanks to you who visit, comment, and encourage. Shout out to ya.

Here are the results of my evening, as inspired by Kinfolk Issue 5 :)

Thanks for visiting!
Auf Wiedersehen
